Freiland was set up by Sylvia Schirmer, a Munich-based film director. Her team consists of socially committed people in the cultural sector, artists, filmmakers, Internet specialists and journalists.
Since 2007, the Initiative has been developing innovative media projects on social issues.

Sylvia Schirmer was born in Munich in 1963
She is a freelance artist and plays a proactive role in the cultural world - both on a personal and professional level. One of her films won an award in 2003 and since 2000 she has run her own film production company - viaschi film.

Editorial involvement in a TV programme about Ritalin, a drug commonly prescribed to children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(frontal 21, 2009),

In 2010, the team developed individual standalone modules as part of the overall interactive exhibition for 2011. It will present these modules to the public in 2010.
